Day 1: Arrival in Massawa & City Tour

  • Upon arrival, start your tour with a walk through Massawa’s historic old town, where Portuguese, Ottoman, Egyptian, and Italian architectural influences come together in a fascinating blend. Learn about the city’s history as an intellectual and cultural hub, then enjoy lunch at a local spot along the waterfront.

  • Afternoon: Relax on Green Island, a short boat ride from the city, known for its crystal-clear waters and beautiful beaches. Here, you can unwind, swim, or snorkel to discover the diverse marine life around the coral reefs.

Day 2: Adulis, Foro & Coastal Exploration

  • Morning Excursion: Set out early to visit the ancient port of Adulis, an archaeological site that dates back to the Aksumite Kingdom and was once a crucial Red Sea trading hub. Explore Foro, a coastal town near Adulis, where you’ll find stone and obsidian tools from over 125,000 years ago.

  • Afternoon: Return to Massawa and enjoy more beach time, or try snorkelling along the coast to observe the region’s vibrant underwater ecosystem.

Day 3: Departure

  • After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning. Optionally, take one last beach visit or explore Massawa’s vibrant local markets before concluding your tour.

Tour Price

Our price is calculated per person or per two people for each tour package we have available. The prices may vary based on the tour selected, as we offer the flexibility to customise your itinerary.   • This tour is available all year round, just let us know when you would like to visit Eritrea in your contact us form.

  • To confirm your trip, please complete the contact form on our website. Once we receive your request and verify availability for your chosen dates, we will send you an email with a confirmation of the dates and a link to pay a 10% deposit of the tour fee.

    After the deposit is received, we will email you a final confirmation of your tour along with details on the next steps.

  • We warmly welcome both solo travellers and groups. Our tours require a minimum of 1 guest and can accommodate groups of up to 30 people.

FAQs

  • To confirm your tour, a 10% deposit of the tour fee is required. Once your dates and availability are confirmed, we will send you an email with a link to our Stripe account for secure payment. After the payment is processed, you will receive an invoice or receipt for your records.

    The remaining balance can be paid in cash upon arrival in Eritrea or settled in full before the start of your tour.

  • We can assist you to acquire a visa prior to your visit or ready to be collected on arrival. Please complete our contact us form and we’ll help you secure your visa in time for your Eritrea trip.

  • In the unlikely event that Barentu Travel & Tours cannot deliver a service listed in your tour program, we will issue a refund for the value of the service not provided.

    Cancellation and Refund Policy Summary:

    • All cancellations must be made in writing via email.

    Refunds are based on the following schedule:

    • 30+ days before departure: Full refund minus the deposit.

    • 15–29 days before departure: 50% of the tour cost refunded.

      8–14 days before departure: 20% of the tour cost refunded.

    • 0–7 days before departure: No refund.

    No refunds will be provided for unused portions of the tour once it has commenced.
